A Home Office in Full Bloom

May 26, 2016 |  Building of the Month

It all started when Tammi Lewis and her husband decided to search for a storage shed. Tammi runs a floral design business out of the home but her workspace and office were beginning to expand out of their designated rooms. With silk flowers overflowing throughout their hallways, the Lewis’ decided to find a better solution.

After seeing the storage sheds available at other big-box retailers and feeling less than satisfied, Tammi and her husband moved on to check out the selection at Home Depot. When they toured a Tuff Shed display building outfitted with shelving and a partition wall, the vision for a backyard office began to form. The Lewis’ weren’t ready to purchase immediately as they had some landscaping projects awaiting completion, but the promise of a new backyard office kept them motivated.

Once they were ready to pursue their dream building, they gave the Fresno CA Tuff Shed team a call. Our local general manager stopped by the Lewis’ home for a quick consultation and they began to put together a plan for the backyard office. Tammi decided on a 10×12 TR-800 with extended end wall eaves, a decorative door upgrade with a transom window, and plenty of additional windows. The backyard office has interior shelving and a partition wall with a pegboard. The eight foot sidewalls on this model also allowed for an overhead loft inside. Tammi and her husband were grateful for the onsite meeting. “I was so glad we talked it out. There were quite a few options that we hadn’t considered, like the custom eaves, and they’ve made such a difference.”

The real work for Tammi began after installation, when it came time to personalize her new shed. Starting with setting up electrical work with her father in law, Tammi worked through her vision for the perfect backyard office. The exterior of the shed matches their cape cod style home perfectly, but the interior is all Tammi’s own. With shiplap walls, faux beams, laminate wood flooring, and decorative plates on the ceiling, this home office never sacrifices on style. “I’ve never had a space that I could fully decorate from the start and it’s been so fun to see this vision come to life,” says Tammi. Working from home doesn’t seem too daunting with a space like this.
