Tuff Shed Transformation – Garden Shed to Woodworking Studio

Mar 20, 2026 |  Building of the Month

Jen took a huge leap of faith leaving corporate America to pursue her lifelong passion of being an artist. She took a chance on herself, and her Tuff Shed was right there when she needed it.

(And you thought Tuff Shed buildings were just for storage.)

Jen, cofounder of Brass Wolf Workshop, left her HR job during COVID to start a business designing and making small batch wooden objects, from cutting boards to custom furniture.

Originally, Jen and her husband, Remus, purchased their Tuff Shed building in 2016 from The Home Depot and used it as a garden shed. But as the business outgrew their garage, they realized they needed more space.

Good thing they already had a Tuff Shed in their backyard.

“Tuff Shed for me was a super easy decision,” Jen said. “My mom was a landscape designer, so I saw Tuff Shed buildings used in real working environments from a super early age.”

Jen and Remus converted their 8 x 12 SR-600 building into their CNC room, so they could continue to create and expand their business. They insulated the building and used custom OSB panels to finish it out. Plus, they refurbished and installed used cabinets to house woodworking tools and accessories.

“We actually did laser engraving and etching on the panels, taking inspiration from summers spent in Maine and staying in wooden cabins where we would inscribe our names on them,” said Jen.

Talk about custom.

Not only is their Tuff Shed unique, it’s also very practical. As both Jen and her husband are about 6-feet-tall, their Tuff Shed is spacious enough for them to stand and work comfortably in their shed, alongside a 3X3 CNC machine.

When they finished their working space, they decided to name their building the Wolf Den.

“The experience really allowed me to see how durable and flexible Tuff Shed buildings are,” said Jen. “It served as a blank slate, a solid and sturdy shell that allowed us the flexibility to evolve.”

What’s next?

Maybe another shed. Or even a garage. Wherever they head, Tuff Shed will be there.
