Living tiny was always a dream for Beth Smith. After purchasing a 3-acre property in Georgia, she and her husband Barry got started on their future tiny home. When their first building turned out to be a bigger project than expected, the Smith’s turned to Tuff Shed.
Beth and Barry worked together to build the first home on the property from scratch. While it turned out how they pictured, they had no desire take on another DIY project of that size. “We’re not builders and that first project was a real pain in the neck. We knew we wanted the next one to be built for us,” says Beth. They visited their local Home Depot in Dahlonega, saw a TR-1600 model on display, and knew it was just what they were looking for.
While working with the local team, Beth decided on a 16×24 TR-1600 for their future home. The two-story design was exactly what she wanted. “It was a big purchase compared to our first building but everything was handled so well by the team at Home Depot and Tuff Shed,” says Beth.

The Smith’s new building required quite a bit of interior work to become a cozy living space. They worked with local contractors to complete the insulation, plumbing, electric wiring, and drywall. The trim, tile work, and décor were completed by the Smiths. With the picture perfect design and decor, it’s clear that Beth was in her element when finishing the interior.
Beth couldn’t be happier with how the new home is turning out. “It’s still tiny but it’s manageable. We moved out of a 3,000 sq. foot house into less than 800 sq. feet, so it’s been a change, but we love it.” In fact, she was so inspired by living small, that she started her own blog and small business, sharing home organizing tips and helping clients declutter their homes. You can find all her information and more photos of the tiny home at My Tuff Shed Home.
As they settle into their new home, Beth and Barry are happy they chose Tuff Shed. “I would absolutely recommend Tuff Shed. It was a great experience and it still continues to be very positive,” says Beth. And as for telling their friends and family that they live in a Tuff Shed? “No one believes us when they see the photos. They’re like, ‘seriously?!'”
