Landscaping with Tuff Shed

May 27, 2025 |  Uncategorized

When you’ve got a pristine new Tuff Shed in your yard, landscaping around it can add that last bit of extra polish—the kind that makes you feel like your backyard should be on the cover of a homeowner magazine.

Here are a few ideas to get you started on landscaping around your new Tuff Shed

Placement Considerations

When planting around your shed, consider placement and lighting. Avoid planting water-hogging plants near the foundation if your shed is on a concrete pad.

It’s also best to avoid planting trees very close to your shed because thick and powerful roots can cause ground-shifting problems beneath the structure.

Generally, it’s also best to avoid placing a shed in a shady place where moisture can build up. Tuff Sheds come with galvanized steel or treated lumber floor joists to minimize those problems, but it’s still wise to consider placement. Plus, optimizing for good sunlight will help the plants in your landscape around the shed grow.

Home Depot Garden Center

Suppose you’re already checking out Tuff Shed buildings at Home Depot. In that case, it’s super easy to swing by the garden center to get everything you need to landscape around your new shed.

One ultra-easy option is to get a few attractive pots pre-planted with flowers and arrange 1–3 on either side of your shed’s door. Voilà! Your shed will look like it belongs on HGTV without much effort.

Garden Kits

If you’re looking for a plant idea, then look no further than this amazing Garden In A Box program. You measure the space you’re trying to fill, and they provide planting maps and the water-wise plants you need to make it happen. It’s a great resource if you’re in the state, and if not, try searching online to see if any similar kits are available near you.

Not only do they look beautiful and support pollinators, but they can also help reduce watering costs.

Consider window boxes

When you customize your Tuff Shed, you can add window boxes to fill with flowers if that’s your jam. It’s a great way to get a cute pop of color off the ground and near the windows of your building. One of the great upgrades that Tuff Shed features is our premium vinyl window box with built-in water reservoir, which helps keep your plants watered for days.

Don’t forget the lighting.

An incredible overall landscape doesn’t just include great plants—it also factors in lighting.

Tim Blake, a customer in Nevada, shared his tip for installing solar-powered lights to point up at the side of his shed. In his case, they light up a mural for high-visibility impact.

Grow forth and prosper.
